How to calculate the volume of a triangular prism
You may think that the volume of a triangular prism is calculated in the same way as that of a pyramid, but this is not at all the case. Indeed, a triangular prism is a polyhedron made up of two triangular bases and three rectangular lateral faces. To calculate its volume, you just need to determine the area of one of the triangular bases and multiply it by the height of the prism.
1- Calculate the area of a triangular base
Find the necessary dimensions. Find the width and height of the triangle. Look at it and note the length of its base as well as its height. Be sure to note the height of the triangle, not the prism. You can measure any of the triangular bases, because they have exactly the same dimensions.
Use the appropriate formula. Note the formula for calculating the area of a triangle. Once you have measured the dimensions of the triangular base, apply the formula with these measurements. The formula for calculating the area of a triangle is as follows :
Do not forget to note the final result in square units, because it is the area of a polygon.
Find the necessary dimensions. Find the width and height of the triangle. Look at it and note the length of its base as well as its height. Be sure to note the height of the triangle, not the prism. You can measure any of the triangular bases, because they have exactly the same dimensions.
2- Calculate the volume of the triangular prism
Write the formula for calculating the volume of a prism by entering the area of the triangular base that you have already calculated. This is one of the two numbers you need to calculate the volume of the polyhedron. The formula to use is V = A * h, V being the volume of the prism, h its height (The height of a prism is the length of one of its lateral edges between the two bases) and A the area of the triangular base
